The ATI Catalyst driver 8.3 is now available in Envy Legacy and EnvyNG. You can check the release notes of the driver here.

As regards the future of EnvyNG, I’m glad to say that the GTK GUI for EnvyNG 1.1.0 is finished and the QT4 interface is in good shape. I only have to solve a problem with the logger in QT4 since using QProcess and TextEdit as a virtual terminal (a la VTE) makes the log look a bit weird. I’ll write a post about this.

EDIT: if you had problems with Envy Legacy and the ATI driver, try version 0.9.10-0ubuntu7

    @dioxy2
    1) Which operating system are you running?
    2) What’s the model of your graphic card?
    3) can you send me your /var/log/envy-installer.log ?

    Hello, can you create a GUI for Xcalib. Xcalib is a software to set the color profile of the screen. We can take the color profile on the cd of the screen or create it on Windows or Mac with commercial Software. With this color profile the color of the screen are better.

    I think, it can be a good idea to create a GUI for xcalib for every body who don’t use Envy and to add Xcalib on Envy for Ubuntu user.

    On the web site of xcalib it has to version of xaclib. One for fglrx and one for others driver. On the new version of ATI driver, Catalyst support calibration software so I don’t know if it’s useful the use the fglrx version…

    Tank you,

    @Diska
    I’ll look into this issue

    @pierluc
    I’m very busy with my own projects but who knows, maybe in the future I might do it

  8. Diska Says:

    thanks

  9. Aaron Says:

    I’ll second Diska’s request. Hardy keeps trying to overwrite the EnvyNG packages with it’s own ones.

  10. Aaron Says:

    also, envyng didn’t update my xorg.conf when I used it on a fresh Hardy install. After a reboot I couldn’t start the X server. Luckily I had a copy of my old xorg.conf from Gutsy saved and I just copied it in.
