It took me some time to update the FGLRX and the NVIDIA driver in Ubuntu since I’m working on the drivers for Intrepid and on my new projects for Ubuntu. Furthermore driver 173.14.09 breaks the compatibility with realtime kernels and I didn’t want to upload something which would cause problems to a lot of users. For this reason I have written a patch (thanks to mizvekov from the NvNews forums for the tips) which will fix this problem while keeping the compatibility with non-realtime kernels.
Both the NVIDIA and the FGLRX contain a lot of fixes and I need your help to test the packages so that we can get them into hardy-updates (i.e. the stable repositories) soon. Please report your experience with the driver in this bugreport.
NOTE: the instructions to enable and use -proposed are in the bugreport (see Martin’s link)
great!
I’m trying fglrx on ATi radeon x600
Nvidia new one seems to work great for me
Thank you lord
Works fine on ati 200m express ,but suspend doesn’t work anymore and neither lock-screen
System:Ubuntu hardy 64 bits
I’m waiting for the legacy update before I move on to testing the new envy drivers.
Ah, incompatibility with the RT kernel would explain why the the vanilla nVidia 177.13 beta driver refused to build after I removed the EnvyNG installed driver (which worked fine – comment left in the bug report).
I know you are not supporting the beta drivers in EnvyNg, but if you have any suggestions concerning patching the beta driver for RT compatability, that would be welcome (I’ll check for mizvekov entries in NvNews in any case).
Anyway, EnvyNG is a great utility; I hope you can keep it going.
Update: Found the thread you started on NvNews Alberto, changed the source for the beta driver and it compiled fine with the RT kernel. So I now have the CUDA beta working again. Thanks.
Thanks Alberto!
Everything is working good with my ati HD2600XT!
Well I am using the 2.6.24-19-rt real-time kernel for ubuntu studio And everything is working well so far!! Thanks! ENVYNG has been making things infinitely more convenient.
Thanks Alberto,
the nvidia-glx-new-envy driver works fine on my laptop with GeForce Go 6100 (rev a2). It fixed a bug that prevented the console from being restored correctly (blank consoles after starting X).
Hi, Alberto. I am using catalyst 8.6 via envyng on hardy-32. My graphic card is an ati mobily radeon x300. i have a bad corruption on youtube full screen video (solved disabling in adobe flash player’s configuration the hardware acceleration). A similar corruption which some times freezes my laptop is noticed when i try to run games such as xmoto or extreme tux racer in full screen mode. Everything is good if they run in 800×600. My screen resolution is 1280×800. Such problems remain even with compiz off. Thanks for reading
The fglrx 8.6 driver broke some video playbacks, does anyone know if ATI fixed that on the newest 8.7 series ?
ATI Catalyst™ 8.8 Proprietary Linux x86 Display Driver released.
Alberto please update the ati drivers to the new ones! I am also having isuse with the resolution, for example, i have a native res of 1280×800 (there is no problim with this) but when it changes resolution i do for example when i open warcraft3 the frozen throne, it changes my resolution to 1024×728. this causes my screen to be all distorted and have half of it split like the right will be on the left and the left on the right and lines running through them. i tested this by changeing my res in normally and the same thing happened. Please fix this! or if you know why please help!
NVidia GeForce 6 series works with my 2.6.28-19-rt kernel. W00t!
