  1. I’m afraid I get an MD5 error when trying to install the beta NVIDIA drivers.

    I have an 8600GT

Here is the reading from the envy terminal.

  2. hey ho 😀
first of all, i want to say you !!__THANKS__!! for envy. that is exactly what i dreamed of. and you seem to read my thoughts and release a version with support of the beta driver. *hug* 😀
to the problem: the url on the nvidia for the file is not correct. it have to be: http://us.download.nvidia.com/XFree86/Linux-x86_64/100.14.03/NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.03-pkg2.run for x64 systems. (note: not “1.0-100.14.03” but “100.14.03”)… no problem i thought ^^ mv “wrong” to “correct”. but bad luck. it failed again. here my console output:

the problems seems to be only the version number of the driver. i think this is not a big deal.
    greetings from switzerland 😀

  3. I am no longer getting the connection timed out message, but:

I guess this is just fault of the nvidia servers.

  4. Dear Alberto,

I just tried to run envy, which seems a great tool.
The problem for me is that I am behind a proxy, so it will not download the latest driver from nvidia (the 100. …for my 8600 GTS).
Now I can download the driver, but running the “sh Driver” somehow fails.
So I was wondering if there is a chance of using your program, point it the local driver file and have the script do an easy installation.

All the best and thanks for your effort

    Robin

  5. You say that after having Envy set up your video card you will need to “uninstall the driver” if you upgrade Ubuntu. How would you do this safely? I currently have Feisty so wouldn’t be upgrading any time soon but I worry about complications in the future when a new release of Ubuntu is available.

  6. @Jared
open Envy and select either “Uninstall the NVIDIA driver” or “Uninstall the ATI driver”. That’s all
