You will have to remove the driver you installed with Envy before upgrading Ubuntu to a newer release otherwise you might not have success with the upgrade.
See point “C” of the FAQ on my website for further details.

still have problem for installing on my dell latitude d600 with ati Radeon R250 [Mobility FireGL 9000] (legacy driver)
[R200Setup] X version mismatch – detected X.org 7.2.0.0, required X.org 7.1.0.0
I had this problem. The updater refused to continue after trying to update nvidia-glx and I was left with a half Edgy, half Feisty system. Luckily the essential bits were updated and it said there were >900 updates. Updating every package, and replacing nvidia-glx with nvidia-glx-new (same version as I had in Edgy) worked, however I am waiting to have Envy for Feisty remove everything that was retained from Edgy so I can install the driver properly with restricted-manager.
This is the EXACT problem I have with installing stuff by means other than a package, such as from source or some kind of installer. The problem is there are so many developers (eg, game developers) who think they can support Linux without using its package management.
Wishing for some widewcreen 1920x1080p support in envy. Using DVI to HDMI adaptor connecting 42′ LCD:s. CanĀ“t get the res 1920×1080 to work with any guide found yet.
Was working in edgy, won’t work in feisty, either automatically or manually. Can’t install via any other method either. I used the 9631 driver when I installed to edgy. Graphics card, nvidia geforce mx4000
