Please tell me this thing installs packages and doesn’t just use the .run files. We’ve had lots of problems with dapper->edgy upgrades that can be traced to using things outside of the Ubuntu repositories.
Envy (differently from my repositories) uses the .run installer but does NOT remove any file in Ubuntu. It uninstalls “nvidia-glx”, install the driver from the installer and blacklist the driver which is provided by the restricted modules.
If you run the Uninstallation function, Envy will reinstall the restricted modules so as to make sure that the restricted modules are not damaged.
I have tried it on my computer and it does not break anything.
P.S. if my repositories were supported by Canonical there would be no need whatsoever for Envy.
Support for the new driver ATI versiĆ³n 8.30.3 ?
