Envy now uses its own parser instead of aticonfig. Why? Aticonfig in driver 8.36.5 has a bug which sometimes just renames your xorg.conf without providing you with a new one. Envy 0.9.3-0ubuntu3 STABLE fixes an error about nvidia-kernel-common which made Envy abort the operation.
Nvidia changed its naming schemes therefore Envy failed with the beta driver. Purge Envy and try 0.9.4-0ubuntu2. Sorry for the inconvenience.
